Valley Graduates and Outplacement

Valley graduates are well-equipped to thrive in a variety of middle school settings. Following 5th grade, our graduates enroll at independent, parochial, and public schools, where they draw on the academic, problem-solving, and social emotional skills they developed at Valley. 

 

The goal of our outplacement work is for students and families to feel comfortable and confident as they navigate the middle school search process. We work with families beginning in the spring of fourth grade so that they understand both the middle school options available to them and the timeline for applying to and registering for middle school.  Starting during the fall of fifth grade, we offer both large group and individual meetings to talk about the details of outplacement as families begin the middle school application and selection processes. In addition, each fall, a Valley teacher runs a series of middle school application preparation classes for our fifth graders covering test preparation, essay writing, and visit day and interview strategies.
