Valley Parent Education Event: Dark Room Methodology and Raising a Brave Collective

Dark Room Methodology guides individuals and systems towards self-examination to understand the role of structural racism that allows us to tap into our humility and compassion, which are at the core of this approach. When we do the inner work to understand how we have been socialized, appreciate our blemishes and strengths, we are then better equipped to take this journey towards practice and healing. We will look at the ways in which this method enable us to approach parenting and education to be a community that can raise children who can access the bravery that goes into accountability and allyship.

Dr. Arya will share the Dark Room Methodology with a facilitated discussion on how this work translates to parenthood and raising communities. Participants will learn practical methods for talking about this with both kids and parents within our communities and what allyship and accountability look like in practical applications in our communities.
