Cama Beach Cabin Silent Auction

You are invited to participate in the Cama Beach Deluxe Cabin Online Auction!

Cama Beach Family Camp, for the uninitiated, is a two night camping trip on Camano Island for Valley School families. During this weekend, families will come together as a community, explore the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest, and spend time with friends. You can come for the day, or stay for the weekend. The camp is reserved for the Valley School from Friday afternoon through Sunday.

There are approximately 33 cabins at Cama Beach State Park, and an additional seven cabins and campsites at nearby Camano Island State Park. The majority of these cabins are assigned by a lottery that Families at Valley runs. However, not all cabins are equipped the same. A limited number come with a bathroom, and because of this amenity, we refer to them as “deluxe.” In prior years, at our annual FUNdraising event, we auctioned off these five "Deluxe Cabins" to raise money to support the Valley School.

This year, Cama Beach Family Camp is scheduled for April 24-26. Our annual FUNdraising event will take place after this on May 30. So, instead of a live auction, we will have an online auction for families to bid on the Cama Beach Deluxe Cabins.

The Online Auction will start on February 26 at 7 p.m., and will close at 9 p.m. on March 5.

So stay tuned on Feb 26 for the notice that the auction is LIVE!

FAQS

Why would I participate in this auction?

If you win, you are guaranteed a Deluxe Cabin with a bathroom (the rest of the cabins do not have bathrooms). And also because it’s a great way to support the school!

Why is this auction happening now?

In the past, these Deluxe Cabins were part of the LIVE auction at the annual FUNdraising event. This year, the event takes place in May - AFTER Cama Beach Family Camp - so an online auction is needed earlier. Yes, it feels weird, we agree... but we're giving it a try! Another benefit of this format is that everyone can participate, not just FUNdraiser event attendees.

How will the auction work?

The Auction will start on February 26th at 7pm. We will send out an email announcing that the five (5) Deluxe Cabins will be up for bid.

  • The Auction will last for 8 days, during which participants can bid on any of the 5 cabins. The Auction will close by 9 p.m. on March 5.
  • Bidding will increase in increments of $100.
  • You can bid on any of the five cabins, they are all the same.
  • The value of these cabins is $400 for 2 nights. In the past, families have purchased them for $800 to $1,600 per cabin.
  • There is an option to "Buy-it-now" for $2,000.

What do I get if I win?

2 nights in a Deluxe Cabin at Cama Beach - April 24th and 25th, 2020.

Cabins are each 14-by-28-feet in size with a living room, kitchen area, bedroom, and small bathroom with shower, toilet, and sink. These cabins have one double bed in the bedroom and a bunk bed with a double bed on the bottom and a twin bed on the top in the living space.

Cabin amenities include electric heat and lights, refrigerator with freezer, microwave oven and sink. All deluxe cabins are set above the beach with a fabulous view of the water. Linen service is not provided; guests need to bring their own bedding, pillows, towels, cookware, dishes, and utensils.

Note: Pets are not allowed in the Deluxe Cabins

What if I don't want to participate in the auction?

That is totally fine! We hope you'll still consider attending Cama Beach Family Camp and you can absolutely sign up for the Cama Beach cabin lottery in March through Families at Valley.

How is this different than the Cama Beach cabin lottery?

The Cama Beach cabin lottery happens every year in March. This year, the lottery is on March 15, and you will receive an email from Families at Valley on February 24 that contains a link to the sign up for the lottery . If there are more families who want to stay at Cama Beach than there are cabins, the lottery helps create a fair system for assigning cabins. If you do not get a cabin at Cama Beach or Camano Island State Park in the lottery, there are other ways to stay at Cama Beach, including tent camping or locating a nearby AirBnB. There are also a number of families that come up for Saturday only.

What if I submitted my name for a cabin in the Families at Valley Cabin Lottery, but would like to bid on a Deluxe Cabin in the silent auction?

No problem! Your name will be removed from the lottery only if you win a cabin through the silent auction. Auction winners will not be included in the lottery.
