The Valley School development policy is not based
on the notion of growth for growth’s sake, but rather on one of expansion
and significant campus improvements to meet well-defined needs and
opportunities. While the school maintains general operating obligations from
revenue generated mostly from tuition payments, it requires special funding to
complete major projects such as buying and remodeling property.
In response to clearly articulated objectives approved by the Board of
Directors, parents and friends of the Valley School have participated
enthusiastically in direct fund drives. When the cost has occasionally
exceeded the estimate for a particular project, the school has met the need
with monies from a reserve fund rather than from money borrowed outside the
school. The Valley School plans to maintain this conservative fiscal policy
and to welcome continued parental support of its specific goals for growth and
development. As of fall 2004, the entire campus and all its current buildings
are paid for.
