Applying to Valley Admissions Schedule for Applicants to the 2009-2010 Academic Year The Valley School welcomes applicants for pre-kindergarten (children must be four years old) through fifth grade and admits students of any race, sex, color, religion, sexual orientation and national or ethnic origin. The staff looks for a good balance of sexes in each class and strives for ethnic, social and economic diversity. Financial aid is available.     Admission tours begin in November on Thursday mornings at 9 a.m. The first tour is November 6, 2008. Contact the school, preferably by e-mail (info@thevalleyschool.org) or by phone to make an appointment. We ask that only adults visit the school at this time and that you plan two hours for the visit. Tours continue through the end of February. Our annual adults-only open house is Thursday, February 5, 2009, at 7 p.m. On the tour the admissions director takes visiting parents through all the classrooms and presents the school's philosophy, programs, and policies. The director and founder often participate in these discussions. You will receive an information packet with the application form on the tour. Applications are not available on-line. After returning the application form and $60 fee, you will schedule an appointment to bring your child to the school for a visit. Most children will visit on either Saturday, February 28 or March 7, 2009, or by appointment for grades 3 through 5. You are asked to stay at school during your child's visit for another discussion period. Your child will interact with other children under the supervision of classroom teachers. We do not test children or formally interview them. New student enrollment agreements will be sent out on March 19 and must be returned with a non-refundable deposit by March 31. If there is not a space for your child, you may ask to have your child's name listed in a waiting pool. The admissions director will call if a position can be offered.
